If you didn’t already know that my wife Melissa is amazing, you will now. Not only has she had a baby in the past year (and dealt with ME!) and helped here at Life Stage, she has been working full time all year on “SAVE THE NIGHT”, A Masquerade Ball December 31st here in Wilmington, NC.
The point of making sure it’s the classiest most fun event in Wilmington on New Year’s Eve is to have a HUGE crowd! Why? We want to raise awareness of a horrendous pandemic that happens A LOT here in town, not just overseas; Sex Trafficking. The “Centre of Redemption”, a local safe house for teenage, pregnant girls is leading the way here in Wilmington in putting it to a stop. “Save the Night” is their way of raising supports and funds for entire 2013.
An excerpt from their website –
“There are countless women and children bound by fear, bound by rope, bound by trickery to beds of slavery, beds of horrific pain and of shame. Nighttime, to me, means relaxing with a good book or getting a few things finished around the house; it is generally peaceful. To a girl who is trafficked it is an endless hell with no hope in sight. We can not sit here in our peaceful homes any longer, so we are saving the night. We are going to claim New Years Eve this year to start off 2013 with the means to crush trafficking in our city. We are throwing a formal masquerade ball with all the proceeds funding The Centre of Redemption.”
