Mary Blake & Raymond- Wedding Highlights

Charlotte, NC

As if Raymond’s wedding day wasn’t an emotional roller coaster already, he marries a bride as talented as Mary Blake that surprises him during the ceremony to a song she recorded and sang herself! It was a great, timeless moment seeing them up on stage in front of all their closest friends and family, but the unique moments didn’t stop there. I’m not sure I’ve ever had the privilege of filming a wedding where the bride and groom serenade their guests to a song with guitar at the reception either. Talent all around. And of course, it not only illustrated Raymond and Mary Blake’s  quirky yet romantic feelings towards each other, but really allowed the guests to get to know their true selves as well!

It was an honor for us to film Mary Blake’s wedding, as I (Matt) have known the Puckett family for most of my life. Being able to take a step back and be the one to document this exciting day for everyone was a real thrill for me. I’m not sure people really understand how incredible it is to witness a large group of people coming together and celebrating….together. Really together. The dancing, the hugs and the laughter never stopped all night. You can see from the highlights film above, how much of a fun party and celebration it was. Brides, you want a classy venue? Look no further than The Club at Longview. Let me share with everyone a few unique things that stuck out to us about this wedding.

1. Mary Blake & Raymond’s matching “chucks”. Sneakers under a dress is very cool!

2. Mary Blake surprised Raymond with a recorded song during the ceremony.

3. The Pastor faces the bride and groom and the bride and groom faced the audience during the vows. Very intimate and very inclusive for everyone else. Loved it.

4. Mr. Puckett dances with his daughter to “Hootie and the Blowfish” for their Father/Daughter dance. Everyone was singing along.

5. Mary Blake and Raymond sang on stage to their guests an acoustic love song. Perfect ending to a perfect night.

Thanks to both families for allowing us to capture this day for you. We hope you enjoy watching this highlights film of the wedding day just as much as we enjoyed filming it.

Featured Speaker at WEVA + Community Service Award!

weva2010

Wow! I always look forward to August for two reasons every year. We get some down time from the fun but hectic wedding season, and we also get inspiration and rejuvenation at the largest gathering of event filmmakers in the world at WEVA expo in Disney World! One of the main reasons that I love my job, and I LOVE what we create for our couples, is that I allow myself a break a few times during the year to step away as to not get burned out. Another huge factor in keeping our work fresh and authentic is the time I get to spend with my other filmmaker friends from all over the world. We share laughs, we share struggles, we share successes, and most of all, we learn! I learned so much at WEVA this year, it makes me even more excited for IN[FOCUS] in January.

But WEVA was different this year. One very huge honor was not the fact that we won a Creative Excellence Award for our wedding work, but actually for our Humanitarian Aid film work in Kenya. It was a privilege winning this year’s Community Service Award for our Hope 127 film to raise support for Kenyan Street Children. That felt good! And it felt good because it gave the video more of a platform and raised more awareness to what is being done in Nakuru, Kenya, and what you can do to help. If you haven’t seen it already, our Kenya Documentary is posted below. be grateful for what you have, and pray for these sweet children.

Another thrill and honor for me at WEVA this year was being invited to speak on sales and marketing for a second year in a row again. Since the launch of my coaching program for videographers all over the world, I have learned how much I actually love teaching just as much as filming. I get immense joy knowing I am positively impacting someone else’s business, and I can’t wait to keep expanding our coaching program and introduce new sales and marketing products over the next year. If you are a videographer, and haven’t visited our coaching site already, head on over there, to www.videobusinesscoaching.com to see the resources we have for you that will immediately impact your business’ bottom line, efficiency and marketing!

We are rocked and ready to hit the rest of 2010 full speed ahead! Thanks so much to all my friends and colleagues who not only attended my seminar at WEVA, but poured into me and taught me some new lessons this year to keep my business moving in the right direction.
