Last month we not only experienced an incredible educational opportunity for ourselves, but we reached a major milestone in our business. We attended the 19th annual WEVA (Wedding and Event Videographers Association) convention in Orlando, Florida. It is the biggest trade show of its kind for our industry and it was our 2nd time attending. We thoroughly look forward to not only improving our craft in wedding filmmaking and raising our standards, but we have a great time catching up and networking with some great friends and talented filmmakers. But this year was a little different. We were invited as presenters this year to speak about some of our businesses successes in the realm of sales and marketing. Melissa and I shared the stage in front of hundreds of our colleagues as we broke down our sales process, and showed how we actually HELP brides in their planning process when they call. Our main point was that its “all about the bride”. Asking the right questions in order to help them find the right video/videographer. We appreciate the great feedback we received and made some great friends in the process. We were also VERY excited and humbled to receive another International Award for our work. They hold an awards gala on the first night for the CEAs (Creative Excellence Award). Its like our industry’s “Oscars” if you will. We won an award for our demo reel, and feel all the hard work paid off when we walked on stage.

Continuing our new love for educating others in our industry, a few weeks ago we also were invited up to Detroit, Michigan to speak at the Michigan Independent Videographers Association (MIVA). It was great to see a few familair faces and meet a TON of new ones. Ryan Koral, a very good friend and talented wedding filmmaker (Epic Motion) in the Detroit area put me up in his house, and we had a great time catching up, being goofy, and keeping each other accountable as we strive to both improve our films for the sake of our clients….you…The brides and grooms.
